Phillip is a seasoned professional with 40 years of experience in the skilled nursing facility industry. He holds a BSBA in Healthcare Management from Appalachian State University. Starting as an accountant, Phillip worked his way up and became a licensed Administrator in 1984. Currently serving as Administrator at Westwood Hills, Phillip’s “Team Approach” has been instrumental in the facility’s success and providing optimal resident care. He actively contributes to the industry as Chair of the Education Committee with the NCHCFA, CO-Chair for the Life Safety Committee with AHCA, and Second Vice-Chair of the Health Care Board of the NFPA. Phillip’s commitment to mentoring and shaping future leaders is evident through his involvement as a licensed Preceptor for the NC Administrator in Training Program. With a strong community connection and a drive for excellence, Phillip continues to make a significant impact in the skilled nursing facility industry through his experience, expertise, and dedication.

Debbie Childress

Director of  Nursing

Debbie’s career began in 1991 at Westwood Hills, where she started as a weekend receptionist. She quickly advanced her education, graduating from Surry Community College as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1994 and later as a Registered Nurse (RN) in 2003. Throughout her tenure, Debbie has held various vital roles, including Unit Coordinator in the Alzheimer’s Unit and Quality Improvement (QI) Nurse. She has a proven track record of enhancing care standards and ensuring optimal patient outcomes. Debbie’s commitment to excellence extends beyond her daily responsibilities. She has actively contributed to the nursing profession by serving as a BLS instructor and a Medication Aide Instructor. Her expertise was recognized when she sat on the Board of Nursing Medication Aide committee in 2012-2013 and participated in the MACE Test Development at the NCSBN in Chicago, Illinois. As the Director of Nursing, Debbie continues to lead with passion and expertise, overseeing the nursing department and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to residents. Her commitment to ongoing improvement and staying updated with industry best practices is unwavering. Outside of work, Debbie finds joy in her family and local community. She is an active member of Swan Creek Baptist Church in Jonesville, NC and cherishes time spent with her two children and two grandchildren.

McKinley Luther

Admissions & Marketing Director

McKinley Luther is a dedicated advocate for geriatric healthcare with a genuine passion for providing exceptional care to the elderly. With a strong background in the field, McKinley’s journey began at age 13 as a volunteer in the activities department, later transitioning to a role as a GCA at 17. Having worked across various departments, including nursing, dietary, and receptionist positions, McKinley now serves as the Admissions & Marketing Director. Driven by a desire to assist local communities with skilled nursing facility and rehabilitation placements, McKinley finds fulfillment in helping others. Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on Healthcare Management, McKinley plans to complete the Administrator in Training program to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
